How Does God Use Delay?
“…therefore, He waits on high to show compassion on you…”
(Isa. 30:18b)
One of the most difficult things for us to learn as followers of Jesus is PATIENCE! We pray for patience; but we want it NOW! Often, whenever we’re in difficult circumstances, it seems that God takes longer than we’d like for Him to change things. Why does God allow that to happen?

STATEMENT OF FAITH
WE BELIEVE the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Divinely inspired Word of God and accept them as our final authority on faith and doctrine. WE BELIEVE in one God eternally existing in three Persons, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. WE BELIEVE in the Deity of our Lord, Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, in His miracles, His atoning and substitutionary death, His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father. WE BELIEVE in the personal return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the “blessed hope,” that is, the catching away of the church at His Second Coming. WE BELIEVE that man was created in God's image and, in his natural state, is fallen and away from God, separated by sin from God forever. WE BELIEVE that personal regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for salvation. This experience, which the Bible refers to as a New Birth, is an experience of Grace, through Faith, freely performed by the Holy Spirit to as many as accept Jesus Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord. WE BELIEVE in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. This endowment of power is available to all believers who ask for it with the evidences and manifestations described in 1Cor. 12. We support the operation of the gifts of the Spirit. WE BELIEVE there shall be a bodily resurrection of all the dead, just and unjust, the unjust shall go away into everlasting punishment and the just (saved) to eternal life (bliss). WE BELIEVE in the necessity of Water Baptism for all believers and Communion as instituted and commanded by the Lord, Jesus Christ. |

Dear Friend:
Thank you for taking a few minutes to visit our website. We hope you will find it uplifting and informative. At Lighthouse Tabernacle, we are committed to fulfill the Command of Jesus to "make disciples of all nations." We offer a number of ministries designed to do just that, for all the members of your family.
I would like to invite you all to visit our church and worship with us. You can find out our schedule of services by checking the website. In addition, we are committed to praying for your needs, seeking the Lord with you and for you. We believe that nothing changes within ourselves, or the world, unless God is the Change-Agent. Unless He does it, it will not be done. However, we further believe that prayer moves the hand of God on our behalf. Therefore, we'd like to invite you to visit our Prayer Meeting held on Wednesday evenings, followed immediately by our Bible Study. The Prayer Meeting is the "heart" of the church's activities. Therefore, you will be able to gain a good understanding of our church family by joining with us in prayer.
If you prefer to join us for worship on Sunday, you will experience an exciting, and engaging time of joyful music as we lift hands and hearts to worship our Creator and Redeemer, followed by an equipping sermon from the Holy Scriptures.
We hope you enjoy our website and choose to visit us soon.
God bless you. |
Lighthouse Tabernacle Church was founded on November 7, 1993. We held our first worship service at 11 Sampson Avenue, in Great Kills, where we continue to meet regularly. We started this ministry as a Friday evening meeting in the Old Town section of Staten Island. Before long, we grew large enough to begin holding Sunday services in Great Kills, and we've been meeting there since 1993. Our philosophy of ministry is that a church is not a building, but the people. Therefore, our focus has been building up the people, helping them find new lives in Christ and training them to follow Him as His disciples. In January 2005, we purchased property on which we plan to build a new sanctuary for our church. While we have concentrated on building "living stones" up into a spiritual building, we believe that God will continue to provide for us in building the external, physical structure to house our ministry. As God leads us, we hope to occupy the new sanctuary as quickly as possible. Our ministry staff is comprised of an Associate Pastor, an Elder and four Deacons. We follow a New Testament form of government for our church, which requires that Eldership governs the affairs of the church, the Senior Pastor being the presiding Elder. The Deacons administrate the ministries of the church. Our Board of Trustees administrate over the financial and business affairs of the ministry. If you have any questions about our church, or would like further information, please contact us through the website.
Thank you.

MISSION STATEMENT
To establish the Kingdom of God on Staten Island through a commitment to fervent prayer; preaching and teaching the "whole counsel of God" through the Holy Scriptures; personal evangelism; exercising spiritual gifts; community outreaches and seminars; effectively impacting our city with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit and bringing transformation to our family, workplace and community. |
|
The first step in understanding who we are is to understand our Vision. The Vision for our ministry represents the reason for our existance and is a key goal of all the ministries of the church. As Senior Pastor, is it my responsibility to be sure to "stay the course" to pursue and accomplish this God given vision.
Our Vision is to establish a New Testament Covenant Community of believers who share our common vision of Discovering Meaning, Finding Purpose and Changing the World. That is, we believe that New Life begins when we discover Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. Once we are "born-again" of the Spirit, that life begins.
As we make a deliberate decision to become disciples of Christ, following His Commandments and Teachings, we will discover the true meaning of life and why we were created. Part of that discovery involves finding out what our spiritual giftings are and striving to develop them as we use them in the church and our community.
Knowing the Purpose for which we were created, we can now move out, fulfilling the Great Commission and impact our families, communities and, ultimately, the world. This sinful world system, and those who are trapped in it, will become transformed as we establish the Kingdom of God and displace the kingdom of darkness, everywhere we go, in everything we do.
